South Fulton is a section of Georgia that encompasses several areas generally southwest of Atlanta, and of course which includes the City of South Fulton itself. While we’ve already covered places like Chattahoochee Hills and East Point, there’s even more to be found in an often overlooked section of one of Georgia’s biggest counties. The Zachos Team spends a lot of time at various places here, so we’d like to share some of our favorite spots.
How far is South Fulton from Atlanta? Many areas of South Fulton are right along I-285, but even the furthest points are only about an hour away from the city.
What are the main draws of South Fulton? Good acreage and proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport are the biggest draws, allowing you to have a quiet place near the city to settle down, while also having the freedom to travel for business or pleasure when necessary.
The Best Attractions in South Fulton
Georgia Renaissance Festival
Gallant knights, exciting jousting, and turkey legs aplenty await you at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. An annual event running through the summer, the festival brings history and fantasy to life through a variety of vendors, shows, and costumed performers. See live music, falconry, comedy shows, and intense duels, all with a distinctly medieval flair. This event takes place just minutes from Downtown Fairburn, meaning any residents in the area have the convenience of a world-class festival right at home.
Landmark Christian School
While it’s not an attraction in the traditional sense, The Zachos Team knows many people who give Landmark Christian School raving reviews. A PreK-12 private school in the center of Fairburn, Landmark promises a rigorous academic program that promises to prepare students for college and the workforce beyond. If you’re looking for a school program that will better equip your child for their future, Fairburn might be worth a look.
Bouckaert Farm
A sprawling venue with acres of beautiful farmland, Bouckaert Farm is a prominent event venue located just off the Chattahoochee River. While it’s often used for weddings or equestrian events, The Zachos Team has close ties to the venue by way of the Tough Mudder, an annual obstacle course race that loops through the entire area. The property has big plans to expand its residential and commercial offerings, which means in the future you might be lucky enough to live within this beautiful space.
Chattahoochee Hills
While we’ve already covered the Chattahoochee Hills area in our blog here, it’s too great not to mention twice. Sprawling nature trails and vast acreage just a short distance from Atlanta make this a perfect place to settle in. Check out Cochran Mill Park for a taste of the natural landscape, or Serenbe for a more developed slice of Southern life. Just like Bouckaert Farms, Serenbe promises to hold more residential and commercial space in an eco-friendly community; if that’s an environment that’s important to you, it’s definitely worth a look.
All in all, South Fulton is a standout section of the county if rural areas are your cup of tea. Between the natural offerings and desired school systems, there’s no doubt why this area has been growing in the past few years.
