“It's really unmatched. You're not going to find a real estate agent with the background he has. And then you couple that with Dee Dee's professionalism, her follow-up, her attention to detail, and all those kinds of things. And it just strikes a really unique balance.”
Jamie Thompson is a longtime friend of The Zachos Team. We sat down with him and his fiancé Susan to find out more about their home buying journey.
“I sell Cat tractors, and I stumbled upon Paul in the late 90s, early 2000s, out at Mirror Lake, and we became friends. He's just such a likable guy, and loyal. He's always helped me; he helped me find a townhome after my divorce. I'm guessing he didn't make anything; all he did was help me find a rental through another friend of his.”
For the Zachos Team, building relationships and helping where we can is a key value of ours. After helping Jamie find his townhome, he met Susan, which led to them finding a new home. The Zachos Team has helped them with multiple transactions, but their first home together may have been the most notable.
“The reason we liked it was it had a pool and a really nice backyard. It had a series of really big decks. The master bedroom was upstairs, so we didn't like that, but because of that the house had a lot of square footage. So it was a really big home with a really nice backyard and a basement.”
“I would say the amenities were the reason we chose that subdivision. We were really only looking at two on the west side of Douglas County, and that was the leader because they had more amenities than the other one.”
As purchasing a home can be a stressful process at times, we try our best to be there every step of the way.
“I would say they were definitely always available, always answering the phone,” Susan said. “If they didn't answer the phone, they were always calling us back immediately with updated information or any questions or concerns that we had.”
For Jamie, thinking of the house as a future investment has led to better experiences in real estate overall.
“I'm always looking at something we can buy at a price that allows us to sell it for a profit, if you take care of it and make some improvements. That's usually the most important thing for me. Everything else comes after that."
And in doing so, you might have to take a risk.
“I would say buy something that probably stretches your comfort level a little, because when you're in that moment, it seems kind of extreme and stressful. But when I look back, those have been the more rewarding decisions that I've made when buying a home. Location is everything. Understand what your neighbor is going to be like, that sort of thing, when buying a real estate property.”
And when it comes to thinking about the construction and investment side of properties, you likely already know how The Zachos Team handles that.
“I think they're an excellent team,” Jamie says. “Dee Dee's so organized. Great follow-up. Then you balance that with Paul's expertise in homebuilding. He's built at the highest level. He's familiar with selling entry-level properties as far as buying a fixer-upper, a rundown home and fixing it up. And he's just an expert from top to bottom. And that's probably the biggest driving factor in my appreciation for how he goes about things. It's just his level of expertise all around the board.”
“One thing that impressed me is just who they are as people,” Susan adds. “And that’s how they donate their time and efforts to organizations to help other people. It just says something about them, for those who don't know them outside the real estate world.”
So if you’re ready for a personalized real estate journey, give us a call. We’re happy to help with your needs no matter how big or small.
“He went out of his way to help me when there wasn't really any monetary benefit, just being a good pal. And I would say that’s one of the main reasons we went with him. And we love Dee Dee.”
