“If we move down the road and they're still doing it, we'll probably go right back to them.”
Chad and April Benton trusted The Zachos Team with their move in Douglas County, so we sat down with them to find out more about the process.
“Our kids were in school in the area we're in now,” Chad said. “It worked out for us when they were little to be over there, but as they got older, and they were in middle school and now high school, we needed to be over here. So it became time. We tried to do it a year ago, but it didn't work, and then this time it worked.”
With school districts at the head of the conversation, we were able to provide recommendations knowing more about Douglas County than most. Our involvement with the community is what initially led to us working together.
“I'd known Paul through the Chamber, years ago,” Chad said. “Then we had friends that actually used them to sell and buy their new house. So we decided to do that on their recommendation.”
“They had made a good point,” April added. “They liked that [he was] a builder, and so they thought that he would be able to see things in homes we were looking at that maybe some other people wouldn't notice.”
“When you walked into a house, you immediately knew where the house stood with [Paul] as far as how he felt about it,” Chad explained. “He was okay with saying it was crappy and not just waiting for us to say something. But also, he was very respectful of the clients, and no matter what, would see every house even when we drove up and knew that we weren't gonna like it.”
“Or he could say, ‘not really a big deal, you just fix that with X, Y, or Z,’" April said.
While our construction knowledge helped with guiding the Bentons in the right direction, we also tried our best to add a human touch.
“They're just super friendly, very sweet,” April said. “I especially love how [Paul] is so great with our daughter in particular. She's 12, so he was always really playful and funny with her, and asked for her feedback.”
“They make a good team because [Dee Dee] is really good about responding quickly to questions and just always really sweet.”

“Be patient with the search for the house. The right one will come,” Chad said.
“Start packing as soon as you put your house on the market,” April laughed. “I didn't even go to sleep the night before we moved, because I packed through the night.”
